British Guard & Myself
Ello’ Mate! My next stop was the wonderful city of London. I’ve wanted to visit this city for as long as I can remember. I have close family friends that are from here, well, they ARE family to me ( Hi Anne, Herb, Jess, Allan & Licia! Miss & love you guys ) And ever since having them in my life, for what I think is close to 16 years now, I’ve had London in the top list of places that I’ve always wanted to visit. Even though I had met so many wonderful people thus far, at this point in my trip, I was starting to feel a tad homesick. Luckily enough for me, London was where I was able to see & stay with a familiar face from home – my girl Kiren !! She’d been staying in the UK for the past 2 years for school and has done her fair share of travelling. It was nice having my own personal tour guide, especially when it came to needing to finding my way around using the Tube. It was SO nice having a friend with me and not needing to constantly look at a map as she already knew her way around. I was in London for a total of 5 days and surprisingly the weather was great! It only showered / was over casted one day, and it wasn’t close to what I had expected. Kiren & I had gone to a club in London called the Piccadilly Institute that was recommended to her by a friend. The place was cool, nothing extravagant in regards to the decor or anything, but it had a cool vibe with separate rooms playing different types of music – A side note to all the ladies, the guys there are a lot more straight forward, just an FYI. Something unique about this place was that they had a standard photographer to take pictures of all the guests, however they offered for you to have your picture turned into a keychain for 4 Pounds. Apart from the typical night of clubbing, of course I hit up all of the standard site seeing thats required in London including, Buckingham Palace, St. Pauls Cathedral, The London Eye, Big Ben, The Tower Bridge, Trafalga Square, Oxford Street etc. etc. London is by far, one of the biggest & busiest cities, with so much going on at all times, that I know that I could come back here at any point in time and there would never be a dull moment.

My Top Recommendation for London are:
- Kensington Palace – The Palace & Gardens are open all year round, and you get a discount if you’re a student. This was my favourite museum in London, and it takes at least an hour and half to see everything. What I loved most about this museum was that it has dresses that Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret & Princess Diana have worn. These dresses are so beautiful and are truly made for Royalty. Another thing that I loved about this museum was that the layout of the facts about the Royal Family, it was very informative and easy to read.
- Abbey Road – If you know me or my family at all, you would know that we are Beatles fans. And by we, I mean mostly my father, but they are a classic example of what music’s all about ( who doesn’t like The Beatles?! ) Make sure that when you go to Abbey Road, you go to the CORRECT location, as apparently there is more then one in London. The one you want to go to is located near St. Johns Wood, on the corner of Grove End Road.
- Cornish Ice Cream – Now, I’m not a huge fan of desserts. Actually I hardly ever eat it, even at birthday parties. But Kiren had recommended it and there are ice cream trucks located all over London, especially in the more touristy areas. This was some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had! I don’t know what it was about it, but it’s absolutely delicious and a must have when you’re there.
