Canterbury, England

During my solo adventure, I made a quick stop over in Canterbury, England. My girl Kiren who I met up with in London, was actually living in Canterbury – she’s now graduated from the University and back home in Canada ( & I now have my own personal lawyer, no big deal )  so I was able to stay in her flat. Canterbury is just a quick train ride away, about an hour or an hour & a half, depending on which train you catch. Since I was only here for a night, I wasn’t able to do as much exploring as I would’ve liked, but I was still able to see some interesting things.
One of my favourite parts of Europe, is the cobblestone – I know it’s something that’s overlooked a lot but we don’t have that where I live and I like how it gives a unique and rustic feeling about the area.  The city walls for example, was rebuilt in the 14th Century!
I was able to see the Canterbury Cathedral, where you’ll be able to see a picture below. It was absolutely stunning, as with almost every other cathedral or church I’ve seen in Europe. Kiren took me around the ‘downtown’ area, where they had loads of shops, restaurants etc. Though it was interesting because the downtown area didn’t have any vehicles, and actually cars were prohibited to be there, only occasionally on weekend nights.
On our way back to the flat, we had fish & chips for dinner – which is a must when in England obviously, and quite delicious may I add ( I even had vinegar with my chips, which seems to be a normal thing over there ) For the rest of the night we just relaxed and had a quiet night in watching the telly, which is exactly what we needed after our previous night out at the club.
It was so nice to be able to sleep in a real bed, instead of a tiny bed like in the hostels, but it was sad knowing that I would be saying bye to my friend the following morning. If you’re reading this Kiren, thank you so much for everything! Even though I know I could’ve managed even if we didn’t get a chance to meet up, it made my trip that much more memorable being with a familiar face from home.
