Remember When,
We tried to learn how to play hacky sack that one summer – and failed horribly so we quit after 2 weeks (more like 4 days)
Remember When,
I would show up on your doorstep after dinner asking if we could go to the park by our house to play
Remember When,
We would scrounge around for loose change trying to get enough for the ice cream truck before it came around your block.
Remember When,
You had to help me look for my house key that I lost in the middle of winter, in like 2 feet of snow.
We probably spent a whole hour walking up and down the same 3 blocks – and we never found it so I had to spend the afternoon at your place until my parents got home from work.
Remember When,
Toaster Strudels were the main component of our diet, the one with the blue icing of course.
Remember When,
We would purposely take our time to walk to the bus stop in the mornings, to the point where we would “miss” our bus (it only happened a few times, I swear Mr & Mrs Harty) Then we would go back to your place and just have a marathon of Disney movies.
Remember When,
I would get bullied at school for being so small, and you would always stand up for me
Remember When,
We would always sit beside each other on the bus to and from school, we wouldn’t even have to ask
Remember When,
I got a black eye at school because I walked behind a boy doing a hand stand and he kicked me right in my face, and you were with me the whole time in the nurses room while I balled my eyes out
Remember When,
We spent every single recess sitting on the little hill over the park playing M.A.S.H – trying to get the perfect life with whichever boy we had a crush on at the time haha
These are just a sliver of the moments that we shared together, but these will be the memories that I choose to remember you by…
I write this letter to you through teary eyes, but I just wanted to say
Thank you for being YOU
For being a great friend, you were such a huge part of my childhood, and just my life in general.
Thank you for all of the memories, and the endless amounts of laughter we’ve shared over the course of all these years
You always taught me to be myself,
that it was okay to be different, because thats what made me special.
I love you so much, and I miss you every day.

P.S. – I met Grandpa this weekend,
He held my hand as we watched your slideshow together.
He is such a sweet old man & reminds me of you
With Love,
Murs xx
