Ibiza, Spain

Sant Antoni de Portmany
I was only in Ibiza for a short period of time (2 nights) – but since I decided to go during the off season, I was anticipating on doing more lounging around relaxing then partying.
I stayed at Hostal Residencia Adelino – which is located by the San Antoni Harbour.
I opted for a private suite & it’s a 5 minute walk away from the beach!
It rates a 8.6 on HostelWorld and I think its great value for money.
Since it was off-season, I found that it was harder to meet people,
especially because I got a single private suite at the hostal.

However, if you go for the reason that everyone goes to Ibiza (which is to party, duh)
I would suggest finding a place in Ibiza Town – that would be your best bet as its the most downtown and closest to all the bars, clubs etc. And depending on how many days you plan on staying for, renting a car would also be a good idea. There is public transportation on the island, but its only buses not trains, and locals suggested renting a car so that you can get around to seeing more of the island. BTW; The direction of the traffic flow is the same as Canada, if anyones reading and is concerned about learning how to drive on the opposite side of the road like in the UK – you’ll be fine 🙂

Night out – The clubs in Ibiza are open from Midnight to 7 AM. Yup, you read that right – midnight to seven in the morning! With it not getting busy until 3 am. So prior to going to the club I checked out a local bar in Ibiza Town with some local friends that I made at the beach earlier that day.
I was told that I have to try a drink called Hierbas – a liqueur that originated on the island.
You can drink it on the rocks, or have it as a shot. Considering I hate doing shots, it actually wasn’t bad. Definitely a recommendation while you’re visiting the island.
As per the Club scene, I was able to check out Pascha Nightclub while I was there.
Usually in the summer, there’s 7 rooms open with 7 different DJ’s. There was only 3 rooms open but it was still really fun and worth checking out – also recommend to check out Space & Amnesia if they are open when you visit. They are the larger clubs that have big DJ’s as headliners on an given night.
