Lanza, Islas Canarias
Hola! Back to Spain I go!
Luckily for me, the weather on the island is quite a bit nicer than it was on
the mainland, because I’m an idiot and left my favourite lululemon sweater at the airport in Lisbon.
Good job Murs, good job.
NTS: Stop leaving personal belongings all over the world,
it’d be less stressful for you & better for your wallet, thanks.
Ain’t too shabby for it being winter, eh?
This leg of my trip was a very special one, as I was finally going to be reunited with one of my favourite human beings ever, Connor!
It had been 16 months since we last saw each other, so we had a lot of catching up to do.
I was lucky to be able to visit a beautiful place such as Lanzarote while someone I knew was staying here for several months. It’s like I had my very own, personal tour guide!
^ If you’re close to me, you’d already know that reference
Not having to take transit/walk to get around was also kinda awesome, so there’s that too.
( Hi Maca! Sorry we didn’t get much of a chance to hang,
but maybe our paths will cross again in the future!! )
Connor & I @ Playa de Papagayo
The first full day on the island was a beach day of course!
I was given the option to pick between two beaches, one being more touristy while the other would have more naked people. At this point of my trip I was so over tourists, and have already seen naked people on the beach ( it’s Spain after all ) so I said why the hell not.
And yep, there was definitely a lot of naked people.
Both men & women, some families
– but the majority of the people were definitely more mature in age.
People aren’t kidding when they say that they can always tell who the foreigners are,
they look at you because you’re wearing your bathing suit.
After catching some serious rays at the beach,
we hit up Casa Rafa Restaurante de Mar,
this restaurant rates a 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor
and is very deserving of that score.
With wonderful service, hefty servings of delicious platters,
and over 800+ reviews you know this is a place to try.
I even tried a goat cheese ice cream here, and it was quite good considering I’m not a huge fan of desserts in the first place.
Cueva De Los Verdes is worth a visit if you plan on coming to the island, though I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who is claustrophobic. It’s a lava tube / cave that was created by lava from a nearby volcano, Monte Corona, around 3000 years ago.
Interesting Fact;
There’s even a concert hall located within the cave,
that can allow up to 500 people in at once.
Now I didn’t see any concert there,
but that would be the most unique concert experience ever.
On top of the world!
I spent the rest of my time exploring the island
– driving along the coast, napping on the beach,
seeing the sunset from a cliff’s edge, and star gazing.
I was able to appreciate the nature of the island in all it’s beauty,
and boy was she ever beautiful.
Heaven on Earth!
A special thanks to Connor for absolutely everything.
Without you, I wouldn’t have been able to have the most amazing experience during my short stay in Lanzarote.
You remind me to enjoy the simple things,
and you truly are one of the lights of my life.
First Paris, Now Spain … Who knows where we’ll end up next?!
