London Baby!
My last stop on this trip before finally heading home.
It was quite the climate change going from
a bikini on the beach to the nippy weather in London,
but I guess it was good preparation before going back home to The Rockies.
I was in London for only about 20 hours, too long to spend in the airport but not quite long enough to go gallivanting around the city. However I purposely chose to have my layover here instead of Amsterdam, so that I was able to see my good friend Irene!
She had moved to the UK several months prior, and I was ecstatic to be able to see a familiar face from home,
even if it was only for a short period of time.
Now we all know how much I hate Heathrow, so like the gem she is, she came to get me and take me to my hostel for the night, with just enough time for a thank you beer & cider.
I stayed at St.Christopher’s Village – and it was good.
I mean I was only there for one night,
but it was exactly what I needed, a bed to sleep in and a clean shower to prep for my transatlantic flight the following day.
Just an FYI though, St. Christopher’s Village is about a block away from another St. Christopher’s, so I actually went to the wrong hostel at first. I have no idea why there are two hostels with the same name so close to one another, I’m just lucky that they were close instead of across the city.
The following morning Irene & I grabbed brunch at a spot called The Breakfast Club.
Definitely a good place to hit up if you have the time, there are several locations in London.
I got the Classic (Bacon) Eggs Benny, and it was deeeeeelicious.
There is usually a queue to get into this place, but I would say it’s worth it, especially cause they have large portions and the vibe of restaurant is quite cool.
They played classic songs from the 60’s/70’s/80’s – it reminded me a lot of Ferris Bueller’s Day off.
Note To Self
We didn’t have much time after brunch, as I needed to make my way to Heathrow to get all sorted before my flight. But of course we squeezed in a photo op in front of the London Bridge before we parted ways.
Let’s see what country we end up in next!
> wussup Romania?! 😉
I absolutely love making friends and meeting old ones, near or far.
I don’t take it for granted and will cherish these memories for a lifetime…
With Love,
Murs xx.
