Surprisingly, for the amount of times that I’ve been to Vancouver, I have never actually made it out to the island. But luckily for me, this trip was extra special because of all of my family and friends that I was able to visit! I’ve known a handful of people that have made the move out to the island in the past year & a half, so it kinda seems like it’s the hot spot as of late!

As per usual, my trip was jam packed. I was able to hit up a ton of spots, including:
Victoria
Ucluelet
Tofino
Comox
Nanaimo
East Sooke
& back to Victoria to wrap it up.
Lot’s of recommendations for places I visited, but overall wanted to mention: The island is generally pricier, not just because of their tax in B.C. but especially for accommodations and even even more so in the summer during their peak season. I was looking up places to stay in Tofino and the cheapest I could find was a little over $300/night for a hostel. I couldn’t believe it! So take that into consideration before planning/budgeting a trip out there. I’ll break down my recommendations per city to make it easier!
Victoria
- – Tea at the Empress
- – Royal BC Museum
- – Nubo Japanese Tapa’s
- – Fishermans Wharf
- – Russel Books
- – Fan Tan Alley

Ucluelet

Tofino
- – Tacofino, duh
- – Whale watching!! I took the Zodiac tour with with Ocean Outfitters and it was amazing

Coombs

Comox
- – Kin Beach Provincial Park
- – Filberg Heritage Loge & Park

Nanaimo
- – Harbourfront Walkway
- – Nori! The best Sushi I’ve ever had

I loved spending time out on the Island, and I’ll definitely be back! The best part was being able to spend time with some family and a handful of friends! If you enjoy nature, you have to visit Vancouver Island! Next time I visit, I think I’ll make the drive out there and camp in my SUV. That way I have more freedom between different places on the island. One other thing to note, even if you plan to travel “post covid”, make sure you do your research. Plan ahead, call and make reservations. Whether that be for accommodations (even camping sites get booked up months in advance) or restaurants, or even little stops like the museum.
With love,
Murs xx
