I know that sometimes there’s a divide for people loving or hating having New Year’s Resolution’s.
“If you want to do something, don’t wait for the New Year to do it, just do it now!” is the phrase in particular that comes to mind. And I agree with it.. to a degree.
Yes, people definitely don’t need to wait until the end of the year, or until their next birthday to start something. They can start at anytime! But I don’t think there’s harm in people being more motivated to start something, because of the New Year.
Obviously, this past year was really difficult for everyone. Myself included, though I know that I am still very lucky. I wanted to share a snippet of what I had written about 2020:
2020, you were something else
You tested our limits, patience & resiliency
You gave us so much loss, heart-break, uncertainty, tears & sadness
But you also gave us time. Time to reflect, time to heal, time to mourn, time to learn, time to grow, time to beWe are stronger than we thought we were,
are more resourceful than we thought we were,
are more creative than we thought we were,
are braver than we thought we were
Now, I don’t know when the world will go back to normal. But with everything that has happened the past year, I wanted to be really intentional about my next 12 months. With that, here are my intentions for 2021:
- More self love
- Bigger focus on my mental health (yoga, meditation, therapy)
- Spend more time on things that fill my cup (this include’s this blog!!)
- Spend less time on things that no longer serve me
- Nurture and foster the growth of relationships that are most important to me
- & of course, I always have a book goal so this years goal is 20.
What about you? Do you set resolutions for yourself when ringing in the New Year? Or are you a “If I’m going to do it, I’ll do it now” type of person? P.s – there’s no wrong answer!

With love,
Murs
